Questions people ask before buying
What counts as a seat?
A person who signed in to a Janus Edge gateway in the last 30 days. Service accounts and team keys do not count. The gateway shows the number in Admin → System, and you can never be charged more than the seats you bought.
What happens if my license expires?
Nothing that disrupts work. Every gateway keeps proxying, enforcing quotas and syncing users exactly as before. What you lose is the ability to add new things — models, upstreams, keys, quotas, rules — until the license is renewed. Stripe subscription licenses have seven days of grace after verified paid-through. Existing manual and Community keys retain the grace period signed into them.
Do I need internet access on the gateway?
No. Licenses are signed files you install; verification is offline. Automatic license sync is off by default and separate from update notifications. We recommend explicitly enabling sync for monthly and annual subscriptions. Without it, download and install a renewed key after each paid renewal; offline and file-mounted keys require manual renewal.
Can I split seats across networks?
Yes. Buy a pool, then issue keys from the portal per gateway or site — 60 seats to headquarters, 40 to the lab. Re-allocate at any time.
Is the source available?
Yes. Janus Edge is released under the Elastic License 2.0: read it, audit it, build it. You may not offer it as a hosted service or remove the license checks. Commercial use above the Community threshold requires a Business or Enterprise key — see commercial terms.
Do you offer discounts?
Founding-customer, education, non-profit and volume discounts are applied off the list price. Ask us.
How do you handle tax and invoices?
Checkout is processed by Stripe on our page. Sales tax and VAT are calculated at checkout; enter your tax ID to be invoiced as a business. Online purchasing is currently limited to approved sandbox testers; contact sales for production purchases. Billing supports invoices, payment methods and cancellation at period end, not mid-cycle quantity or cadence changes.
